We went to stay at Fort Columbia in early June.
It's just north of the border with Oregon.
Fort Columbia was in use up until WW2.
Before the military took it over, it was the center of the power base of the
Chinook Indians.
To get there, you have to cross the Astoria bridge.
At over 4 miles long, if that doesn't impress you, nothing will! Astoria was set up a fur trading post by Lord and Lady Astor, the fur traders who were on the Titanic.
